    What are Deruta Ceramics (or Deruta pottery) and what is the history? 

    The development of Maiolica goes back as far as the 9th Century in Mesopotamia, but Italian ceramicists made a huge leap in production processes in the 14th Century that led to the establishment of major production centres in Deruta, Montelupo and Faenza to name a few.
